The Churchill Northern Studies Centre is a new 28,000 square foot LEED Silver Certified research and education facility. The centre is a self-contained living unit and is complete with sleeping accommodations for 88 people including staff, visiting scientists, and students. The facility also includes science laboratories for multiple northern scientific studies, classrooms, a library, a commercial kitchen, a dining hall, and a fitness facility. The building features composting toilets, low flow fixtures, and onsite water treatment and septic system to minimize the amount of water and sewage that needs to be hauled from the building.
