Penn-co Construction is a leading construction company currently hiring a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team working at our shop located in Blumenort, MB and working remotely in Northern locations. Penn-co offers an excellent benefits package, and a very competitive salary.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair a broad inventory of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, cranes, skid steers, telehandlers, and forklifts.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on highway trucks and trailers, including brake systems, suspension, powertrains, and emissions systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance with a strong focus on hydraulic systems, as well as mechanical and electrical components.
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide efficient on-site solutions to minimize downtime and support field operations.
  • Coordinate repair schedules with the Service Department Supervisor and site leadership; maintain strong communication with both.
  • Maintain accurate service records, time sheets, parts usage logs, and parts requests.
  • Work independently in both remote field environments and a fully equipped shop.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is preferred. All levels will be considered, including apprentices.
  • Proficiency with Caterpillar ET and SIS diagnostic systems is a strong asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience with heavy equipment and on-highway truck/trailer repairs.
  • Must supply own hand tools, travel toolbox, and shop cabinet.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and strong diagnostic skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and capable of managing changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset.
  • Ability to travel to remote project locations for work assignments.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular shop hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Work is performed in a combination of shop environments and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions (heat, dust, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Must be physically capable of performing strenuous tasks including lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standing or kneeling.
  • Travel to various job sites is required, including occasional work at remote locations and longer shifts depending on project needs.
