Goodfish Health Centre

Location: Goodfish, Alberta
Owner: Whitefish Lake First Nation #128
Architect: Berry Architecture & Associates
Contract Type: Stipulated Sum
Completion Date: July 2015
Project Value: $2.2M

This project involved two additions to the existing Goodfish Health Centre totalling 3000 square feet and a renovation of one wing of the existing building. As the addition and renovation portions of the project occurred simultaneously, Penn-co provided the owner with a sea-can for furniture and equipment storage. Construction began on February 1, 2015 and was substantially complete in June 2015.
As with all renovation projects, there were some unexpected discoveries during construction. As a result Penn-co provided a lot of addition work at the owner’s request, including: reroofing the entire facility, replacing rotted subflooring, relocating existing electrical and resolving mechanical problems in the existing building. During the flooring replacement in the existing building, it was found that three layers of flooring had been installed on top of each other. In order to match the finished floor elevation in the addition and the rest of the health center Penn-co needed to build-up the existing subfloor before installing the new flooring.
