The Safety Coordinator will assist in managing Penn-co’s Safety Program, ensuring the safety of all employees on site, and minimizing risk through training, awareness, and documentation. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies that comply with industry standards, local regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to construction site teams in the implementation of safety measures and practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and ensure compliance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to construction safety.
  • Work alongside the safety team to complete annual COR safety audit.
  • Visit northern project sites for inspection and compliance.

Qualifications

  • NCSO or similar designation or able to work towards it.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Safety Coordinator or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction site hazards and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and educate employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and developing safety reports.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs, Word, and Excel.
  • Very detail-oriented and able to manage priorities.
  • Be able to be assertive and resolve issues on site and with subtrades.
  • Capable of flying up north and working flexible hours periodically as required for site visits.
