Penn-co Construction is a leading construction company currently hiring a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team working at our shop located in Blumenort, MB and also working remotely in Norther locations. Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair a broad inventory of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, cranes, skid steers, telehandlers, and forklifts.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on highway trucks and trailers, including brake systems, suspension, powertrains, and emissions systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide efficient on-site solutions to minimize downtime and support field operations.
- Coordinate repair schedules with the Service Department Supervisor and site leadership; maintain strong communication with both.
- Maintain accurate service records, time sheets, parts usage logs, and parts requests.
- Work independently in both remote field environments and a fully equipped shop.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is preferred. All levels will be considered, including apprentices.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset.
- Must supply own hand tools, travel toolbox, and shop cabinet.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience with heavy equipment and on-highway truck/trailer repairs.
- Ability to travel to remote project locations for work assignments.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and strong diagnostic skills.
- Reliable, organized, and capable of managing changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a combination of shop environments and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions (heat, dust, cold, rain, etc.).
- Must be physically capable of performing strenuous tasks including lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standing or kneeling.
- Travel is required based on jobsite needs.
